Summer is finally here with June set to be the hottest month on record. This can only mean one thing its barbecue time.
This is the time when millions of men, take charge and cook the food.
Men that would not normally be seen dead cooking take it upon them selves to cook, beef, chicken, pork and lamb for family and friends.
Why, simple its history and a mans birthright! Before the lynching starts let me explain.
To offer an explanation of why women can not and should not be allowed near a barbecue, we need to delve into the origins of the Barbecue.
Some sources say it was in the 1800s when the man who invented barbecue turned up on the scene. It was a cowboy who slow cooked his tough and sinewy meat over burning charcoals to tenderize it. Cowboys then were rationed with the lesser quality beef parts. However, they also got beef and pork ribs from time to time. But in particular, who invented the barbecue? Is there a specific cowboy name? No one knows. What is sure is that America has a long history of grill or roast cooking.
The Taino Indians
Experts say it is quite likely that the Taino Indians were the ones who invented the barbecue. They were natives living in the Bahamas. They hunted animals for food and cooked them in various ways. Among them is called “barbacoa” in the native dialect. It is done by smoking meat using a specific utensil where meat is placed while being grilled or roasted on fire. Indeed, the Tainos were likely to be the people who invented the barbecue.
So you see ladies, barbecuing meat is a man thing, handed down from the rough and tumble days of The American mid west, when men were men and women knew that cooking meat on a barbecue was the job of a man.
So ladies hands off the barbecue this Summer, Barbecues are for men. Not for the Birds
Stick to something else!

Garden play equipment
Now that the Sun is beaming through and the days are growing longer, its time to get the kids outside and have fun.
All kids love to bounce and what better way for them to get some exercise and tire them selves out too. That is why a trampoline is perfect for all ages.
Trampolines are great fun, kids and adults love to bounce on them, but be safe.
Ensure that the trampoline is safe and then your kids can have risk free fun.
ou should situate the trampoline in a clear place and well away from potential hazards such as trees, washing lines, poles and other equipment which may get in the way. You should also ensure that there’s a ‘safe zone’ around the perimeter of the trampoline which should be at least 2.5 metres all the way around it.
This should be kept clear from obstacles such as bikes, skateboards and other kids’ toys and preferably should consist of sand or some other kind of material such as bark shavings or safety matting which will provide cushioning in the event of a fall. Better still, why not buy a trampoline which comes with safety netting around it or buy an external safety cage which you can place all around it? It may cost more to do this but it will definitely keep your children safer and less likely to suffer serious injury by coming off the trampoline.
We all want our kids to have fun, but remember trampolines can cause injury.
